n December 2008 Enviro Tech was the first company in the world to obtain an EPA registration for a new, innovative water-based formulation for DBNPA (patent pending).
Although DBNPA is a very popular and proven chemistry for oilfield, water treatment, and commercial/industrial uses, other DBNPA formulas from Dow or Clearon are blended with polyethylene glycol and similar solvents. Enviro Tech's "Enviro-Brom 20L" is a completely new concept of a stabilized water-based dispersion of DBNPA that does not contain solvents or glycols. (Other competitive products don't contain water!)
Sodium bromide and other clear-brine inert ingredients (Generally Recognized As Safe by the FDA and EPA) are used to saturate the Enviro-Brom 20L solution to prevent DBNPA from reacting with the formulation water. The result is a stable DBNPA product that is far more environmentally friendly than "typical" DBNPA products by yielding substantially less BOD, COD, or TOC constituents to the water matrix. Additionally, the sodium bromide added to the formulation reacts with oxidizers normally used in water treatment programs to form hypobromous acid, which is recognized throughout the industry as a preferred chemistry in water treatment.
While the efficacy and microbiocidal activity of DBNPA is well known, Enviro-Brom 20L is the "Green" alternative to conventional DBNPA products. We encourage you to read more about it on this web page.
